Medan – PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN), as Pertamina’s Gas Subholding, through its Medan Area, continues to strengthen its commitment to providing safe, convenient and reliable natural gas services to customers. One such initiative involves technical inspections and safety awareness campaigns on the use of natural gas, carried out directly on a door-to-door basis in the city of Medan and its surrounding areas.
This initiative represents a proactive step by PGN’s Medan Area to ensure that customers’ natural gas installations remain safe and in good working order. Through these home visits, staff inspect the condition of pipework, check for potential gas leaks, and identify at an early stage any technical issues that could affect customers’ safety and comfort.
These activities also serve as a means for PGN to build closer relationships with its customers in the Medan area, which numbers more than 17,000. PGN provides direct education on the safe use of natural gas, the importance of maintaining the condition of installations, and the steps customers should take if they detect any signs of a gas leak.
Agus Kurniawan, Area Head of PGN’s Medan Area, stated that these inspection activities form part of the company’s commitment to always prioritising customer safety whilst continuously improving service quality.
“PGN consistently ensures that natural gas is reliably supplied to customers, providing a sense of safety and comfort. Through these on-site inspections, we aim to engage more closely with customers, listen to their needs, and take preventative measures against potential risks in natural gas installations,” he said.
In carrying out these inspections, PGN’s Medan Area Office deployed staff divided into several teams to conduct phased visits to customers’ homes. Inspections were prioritised for customer installations that had been in use for a certain period or that required further technical attention.
The findings of each inspection form the basis for evaluation and follow-up actions in line with the conditions found on site. Consequently, potential disruptions can be identified at an early stage, enabling appropriate remedial measures to be taken.
PGN Medan Area also urges customers not to make any changes or modifications to their natural gas installations themselves and to report immediately if they notice any abnormal conditions, including the smell of gas. Customers can contact the Pertamina Contact Centre on 135 for assistance and further information.
Through this initiative, PGN hopes to continue building customer trust whilst raising collective awareness of the importance of natural gas safety in the home.
Through these door-to-door inspections, PGN’s commitment extends beyond simply supplying energy; it also involves being directly present, providing responsive service, and making continuous efforts to ensure the safety of every customer. With a spirit of wholehearted service, PGN Medan Area is committed to continuing to provide safe, convenient and reliable energy for the community.
